Suri Agro Fresh Private Limited traces its origin from Bansi Lal Guru Charan Lal Suri, the founder of the company. Therefore the company’s initial trademark, i.e., BGS depicts it well. The company started off with a vision to provide high quality fresh produce to different markets in India in 1947. Gradually, as Indian fresh fruit market took notice of BGS as a company driven by excellence and ethics, it was soon recognized as a serious player in the produce firmament. BGS changed its name to Suri Fruit Agency (SFA) in 1980.
Throughout the years, changes have continued to take place. From a modest beginning, a 50-50 joint venture company was formed between Suri Brothers, India and Total Produce Plc, Ireland where the transition to a private limited company by the name of Suri Agro Fresh Private Limited was made.
Suri Agro Fresh is one of India’s largest fresh produce company, based in Asia’s largest fruit market in Delhi. Suri Agro Fresh maintains strong relationships with the most prestigious suppliers from across the globe to serve the Indian fresh fruit market. Currently, Suri Agro Fresh is importing from various countries such as Australia, China, Chile, Egypt, France, Italy, New Zealand,Peru, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, USA etc. The company is also the authorized distributor of Zespri (New Zealand), Nova Fruit (Italy) and Adani Agrifresh Limited (India). Suri Agro Fresh commands respect as a leading distributor and importer of fresh produce handling over 65,000 MT of produce every year.
The company has a head office in Delhi and has branch offices each in Delhi, Haryana, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu Kashmir, Punjab, Hong Kong and is associated with more than 5000 farmers from the past 20 years; the company also has sourcing offices in Shopian(Kashmir), Narkanda (Himachal Pradesh), and Kullu(Himachal Pradesh).
Suri Agro Fresh has diversified its operations, as it is also operating in the cold chain industry in Kundli, Haryana (India) by the name of Sanwalee Cold Storage and Agro Fresh Industries since 1990. It is the first company in the private sector to start a sorting, grading, and packaging line for mandarin orange (kinnow). As time went by, with the emerging requirements of perfection and technology in the cold chain industry, Suri Agro Fresh also came up with a world class multipurpose cold chain infrastructure by the name of SuriFresh having a capacity of 11000 MT tonnes in a Government approved food park of HSIIDC, RAI Industrial Estate, District- Sonepat, Haryana (India) in close vicinity of Asia’s largest fruit Market.
Another controlled atmosphere (CA) facility managed by Suri Brothers, Burza Family & Bhat Family by the Name of Fruit Master Agro Fresh Private Limited having a capacity of 5000 MT, located at the heart of apple growing area at Lassipora Industrial Area, Pulwama, in very close vicinity of Shopian, Kashmir, has been set up.
After successfully commissioning the CA facility in Kashmir, Suri Brothers have also setup a sorting, grading, and packaging facility by the name of Fresh Pack Agro in Abohar, Punjab which is the main growing region of citrus fruit (kinnow).
The members of the founding family are still active with the next generation who has joined their family business.
